Soho House – 180 The Strand

Aquascapes was honoured to be appointed to design and construct the rooftop heated pool at 180 The Strand, a striking brutalist building transformed into a creative hub for Soho House.

This project presented a unique technical challenge: as an existing structure with restricted space and limited loading capacity, the pool needed to span the roof between the existing structural frame without imposing additional load. Aquascapes’ design solution allowed the pool to essentially float above the roof, with all loads transferred directly through the building frame to the foundations — a precise engineering feat that combined innovation with structural integrity.

To bring the client’s vision to life, we implemented our lightweight, flexible modular pool system finished in hand-made and hand-glazed Pyrolave tiles, created from volcanic lava formed over 11,000 years ago. The result is a visually stunning rooftop pool that seamlessly integrates with the bar, restaurant, and two floors of club space below, delivering a luxurious and functional leisure experience that perfectly reflects the Soho House ethos.
